The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (GPCC), which has celebrated the exemplary achievements of Valley businesswomen through its ATHENA Award program since 1988, is now accepting nominations for its 2015 awards. The nomination process is open to the community, and the Chamber encourages anyone to nominate a deserving businesswoman now through Friday, June 26.
In its third decade of honoring ATHENAs, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce is excited to continue to recognize exemplary leadership, achievement, support and mentorship. Outstanding businesswomen and emerging leaders will be recognized at the 28th annual ATHENA Awards luncheon on Thursday, October 29 at The Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. The Chamber will honor three women for the ATHENA Award – one in the public sector, one in the private sector and one up-and-coming ATHENA young professional.

The ATHENA Awards, named after the Greek goddess of courage and wisdom, is a program of ATHENA International, a foundation dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women. The awards recognize women who have achieved the pinnacle of success within their industry, have mentored women throughout their career, and have dedicated themselves to the community through various activities and charities.
“Is there an ATHENA in your life who is a leader in her industry? Do you know a young woman who is “one to watch” and a role model for others in her community and workplace? If so, nominate an outstanding Valley businesswoman today for the 28th Annual ATHENA Awards,” said Todd Sanders, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to recognizing three exemplary Arizona businesswomen who embody the spirit of ATHENA and have the passion and drive to cultivate success in the next generation of businesswomen.”
