From promoting the myriad ways music inspires our lives to fixing potholes and saving taxpayers’ money and from effectively managing our most important resource to helping businesses thrive, our Chamber member professionals love working with great colleagues to make Phoenix great!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we asked members of our Valley Young Professionals group – and a few other members – to share with us what they love about their jobs.

Erin Miller, Media Relations Manager, MIM – Musical Instrument Museum

There are so many reasons I love my job. First and foremost, it is truly wonderful to work in a building that is as architecturally stunning as MIM. Just walking through the doors can lift your spirits! Furthermore, it is inspiring to see the impact of MIM’s exhibits on our guests. I’ve seen guests dancing and singing in front of some exhibits, and moved to tears in front of others.

What I love most about my role at MIM is that my job is never done. There will always be people who haven’t heard of MIM. I love finding fun and exciting ways to reach new audiences and spread the word about the extraordinary experience we offer.

Laura Etter, Chief of Staff, Phoenix Councilman Bill Gates:

I love my position as chief of staff for Phoenix Councilman Bill Gates because I am able to be intimately involved in making Phoenix a great place to live and do business. While I always have a plan for the day I never know what issue or opportunity the next phone call could bring from fixing a water leak to implementing a new policy or idea that could advance our efficiency and save money for taxpayers.

I am in a position where not only do I get to support the councilman, but he is also supportive of my involvement in the community with the Valley Young Professional Board at the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Blue Blazer Squadron and Luke Air Force Base, and Valley Leadership.

Adam McAnally, Reg. Analyst, SRP:

I love working with the people at the Salt River Project. I am surrounded by some of the most dedicated engineers, accountants, attorneys and technicians who are all absolutely dedicated to providing affordable water and electricity with the best customer service and reliability. The reason our company gets to proudly display our 25 J.D. Power awards is the hard work of our employees who love the Valley and the people we serve.

I am still somewhat new in this position, especially in a company where people regularly stay for over 30 years. Our employees have taught me so much about what it takes to provide water and power to the Valley. They truly bring life to the desert every day, rain or shine.

Carolina Lopez, Digital Marketing Administrator, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce:

Through the Chamber I get to meet tons of impressive people making a difference in Arizona and the Phoenix community, which warms my heart because I love Phoenix.

I love that my job involves helping businesses thrive and stay in Arizona, ultimately benefiting the local economy, and that we promote Phoenix growth. Learning about public affairs and various aspects of economic development has also been fascinating.

Christina Noble, Vice President of Business Development, Sonora Quest Laboratories/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona:

Impacting the lives of over 24,000 Arizonians every day – what could be more rewarding than that?

The three things that come to mind immediately are making a difference, the ability to influence and see the interconnectedness of three functional areas, being challenged and growing every day and working with the best team of colleagues in our state!

Sarah A. Strunk, Chair, Fennemore Craig, P.C.:

The people. I love working with our clients and staff every single day!

We forget sometimes what a privilege it is to work with very smart people who take risks to build something bigger. Our clients are such people.

The other lawyers and staff members at Fennemore Craig are all focused on three things: commitment to the client’s cause, sharing and communicating with each other openly and professionally and striving to exceed expectations in what we do.  That kind of teamwork is very rewarding.

Gretchen S. Kitchel, SRP:

I love the people at SRP. All around me are people looking to work hard, do good things all the while being kind to others.
