The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) has appointed six new members to its Valley Young Professionals (VYP) Board of Directors. The 2015-2016 Board is responsible for overseeing VYP programming, which includes identifying relevant content, timely speakers and new event venues.

The six young professionals joining the 2015-2016 VYP Board are:

  • Hayfa Aboukier, Director of Grants and Programs, Adelante Healthcare
  • Thomas  Barr, Director of Member Engagement and Operations, Local First Arizona
  • Matt Lovelady, Section Supervisor, Salt River Project
  • Dan Mullen, Financial Services Representative, MassMutual Financial Group
  • Alexis Trujillo, Regional Special Events Specialist, American Red Cross
  • Craig Waugh, Attorney, Polsinelli PC

“In addition to being the sixth-largest city in the United States, Phoenix’s budding entrepreneurial community fosters incredible new business growth,” said VYP Board Chairman Matt Clyde, president of Ideas Collide. “With so many opportunities in this market, it is critical that we retain, mentor and inspire the young professionals who live and work in Arizona. Our new board members have a diverse set of skills and experience, but they all share a sincere dedication to seeing the next generation of professionals in our community thrive.”

Now in its fifth year, the VYP Board will also be charged with aligning VYP programming to GPCC’s strategic economic development initiative, Phoenix Forward. The recently launched program focuses on business retention and expansion, with particular focus on developing a talented workforce.

“The Valley Young Professionals are vital to advancing the Chamber’s mission,” said Todd Sanders, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. “By engaging our young leaders in opportunities to learn and connect with each other and the community, we are promoting the thriving economy Arizona’s businesses need to expand and create new jobs.”
