The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s Political Action Committee (GPCC PAC) today announced its endorsement of four candidates for the upcoming Mayoral and City Council Election on August 25, 2015. The GPCC PAC spans over three decades of support for candidates in local and state races who have distinguished themselves as knowledgeable and supportive of issues positively affecting business success in the Greater Phoenix region and Arizona.

After a thorough review of voting records, survey responses and personal interviews, the GPCC PAC endorsed incumbent Mayor Greg Stanton based on his demonstrated leadership and long history of support for the Greater Phoenix business community.

“The Chamber’s Political Action Committee is excited to endorse candidates who demonstrate accessibility and collaboration in support of promoting the interests most important to our local businesses,” said Greater Phoenix Chamber PAC Chairman John Moody, partner in the Phoenix law firm of Peters, Cannata & Moody PLC. “The Chamber continues to build strong relationships and looks forward to working further with the Mayor and City Council on a number of issues to help our businesses and our economy further grow and prosper.”

The GPCC PAC used the same process to evaluate candidates running for Phoenix City Council this year and issued the following endorsements for the 2015 City of Phoenix Council races:

Council District 1:
Councilwoman Thelda Williams

Council District 3:
Councilman Bill Gates

Council District 5:
Councilman Daniel Valenzuela

“Our Political Action Committee is vital to the Chamber’s mission of supporting and sustaining member businesses,” said Todd Sanders, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. “We heard from many qualified candidates and endorsed those who had the clearest understanding of the challenges facing businesses in Phoenix and those whose policies align with our strategic initiatives to fosters a pro-business environment focused on the creation of quality jobs, robust business retention and expansion efforts.”

The Chamber’s Vice President of Public Affairs Mike Huckins added, “Government leaders at the state, county and local levels make decisions that impact local businesses every day. It is important for area companies and member businesses to be involved in supporting candidates that will understand the impact their decisions will have on Greater Phoenix businesses and families.”

Established in 1978, the Chamber’s Political Action Committee identifies and helps pro-business candidates to be elected to state, county and local offices. Having pro-business candidates in office helps improve the business climate in metropolitan Phoenix.
