Bill: HB 2502 – Medical Licensure Compact
Primary Sponsor: Rep. Heather Carter
Status: Awaiting House action on Senate amendments
Summary: HB 2502 enacts a medical licensure compact to establish a comprehensive and streamlined process allowing physicians to become licensed in multiple states.
Recommendation: The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce supports this bill, as it makes it easier for physicians to obtain licenses to practice in multiple states and increases the physician pipeline in our state. By developing a new, expedited pathway to licensure for qualified physicians, HB 2502 increases access to health care for patients in underserved or rural areas and allows patients to more easily connect with medical experts through the use of telemedicine technologies. The bill does not change Arizona’s existing medical practice requirements or impede in any respect disciplinary actions made by the Arizona Medical Board.
The Chamber Supports HB 2502, a vitally important bill for the future of Arizona.
