Valley Metro is wrapping up a year of accomplishments.
In 2016, Valley Metro Rail expanded service an additional three miles into Northwest Phoenix and started construction to connect riders farther east to Gilbert Road. Historic improvements were made to both Dial-a-Ride and bus services. Dial-a-Ride implemented regional trips and eliminated transfers, while Phoenix buses expanded hours and frequency thanks to the passage of Phoenix Transportation 2050.
Now, we look ahead to the new year. In 2017, Valley Metro will connect thousands of basketball fans to NCAA Final Four events, construction will begin on the region’s first streetcar in Tempe, mobile ticketing will launch as a new app feature and much more.
It is also with great honor and excitement that I lead Valley Metro into the future as the CEO. I look forward to continuing to enhance and build upon our service to connect people and create economic opportunity.
