Hear from three leaders of the business community about what they want from the Arizona legislature in the upcoming session.
Todd Sanders, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lorenzo Sierra, Vice Chair of the AZ Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Farrell Quinlan, the National Federation of Independent Business Arizona state director, recently talked about their goals for the session and how a Trump presidency might impact business.
“We’ve seen some incredible strides in the last few years and it really put us in the catbird seat nationally,” said Todd Sanders, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. “As far as the initiative process, we need to stop being a test bed for crazy ideas from out of state.”
Sanders added, “The other thing I think we need to do is to continue to push the needle on education. Prop 123 from last year was huge…it was a Hail Mary pass.”
Workforce is also a big area for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, says Sanders.
“The Greater Phoenix Chamber’s economic development team and its partners talked to over 900 businesses in 2016 and far and away, the biggest issue is workforce,” Sanders said. “So that, we think, is a real win that’s out there for the Arizona business community.”
