The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation (the Foundation) convenes and catalyzes business, education, and community to enhance college and career readiness, develop a stronger workforce, and build healthier communities throughout Arizona. The Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, leads the charitable and education initiatives of the Greater Phoenix Chamber under the four pillars of educationworkforce developmentwellness, and research. Through stronger alignment between education, business, and community, the Foundation prepares individuals for college and career and serves as an intermediary to convey workforce needs and champion scalable workforce solutions. In addition, the Foundation makes Arizona and the Greater Phoenix region known as destinations for healthy talent and healthy communities through workplace wellness efforts and publishes data-driven research to inform policymakers, business leaders, and the general public.

Who are we looking for today?

We are interested in hiring people who have a passion for Phoenix and a desire to make the Greater Phoenix region a great place to live, work and play. Ideal candidates will have a passion for preparing and analyzing data to provide relevant information to the community and guide the Chamber’s strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will be the primary data entry and evaluation team member for the Chamber and the Foundation.  This position will work with external partners to develop and manage data for ElevateEdAZ, the Foundation’s workforce collaboratives and the Chamber’s economic development initiatives. The person in this role must have keen attention to detail and the ability to analyze data to identify themes and trends.

The candidate will communicate in a strong, positive, and effective manner, both verbally and non-verbally and be a self-starter with the ability to sustain and move work forward with minimal direction. All Chamber employees are expected to work collaboratively with other departments and be team players to help accomplish our organizational mission. The ideal candidate must be well organized with the ability to ensure continuous progress of various projects.

Position Objectives

ElevateEdAZ: 60%

  • Maintain and analyze key data to measure status and progress towards ElevateEdAZ goals and objectives
  • Identify methods of data visualization and presentation principles to measure program outcomes
  • Build, develop, and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards (PowerBI), data-driven reports (MS Excel), and performance metrics that support key business decisions
  • Foster positive relationships with partner school districts to obtain student level data in compliance with confidentiality agreements
  • Import and utilize state and regional LMI data and growth sector trends to inform pathway alignment for educational programs
  • Utilize data to analyze industry credentials and education pathways
  • Ability to manage and implement data project deadlines
  • Update KPI and metrics tracking monthly, and as needed
  • Find and understand correct data sources for given analysis
  • Develop and create useful and accessible data models relevant to program objectives

Workforce Development: 20%

  • Work with external partners to publish annual workforce report
  • Compile and analyze data for workforce collaboratives
  • Prepare data analysis for AZ Careers NOW hiring events

Economic Development: 20%

  • Manage and enhance the Chamber’s Arizona Economic Dashboard
  • Work with external partners to enhance the Chamber’s Arizona Business Index
  • In collaboration with the Chief Innovation Officer, manage economic development inquiries

General

  • Ability to create presentations to share data findings with stakeholders
  • Curiosity and passion about utilizing analytics and data to solve problems
  • Willing to ask questions and challenge data accuracy and assumptions
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

The Foundation is looking for candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities desirable for job success:

  • Minimum one-year experience in data analysis
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft PowerBi and Excel
  • Knowledge of student education attainment data and reporting highly desired
  • Knowledge of LMI and workforce-related data highly desired
  • Ability to communicate data requests as well as findings with an objective, non-judgmental demeanor
  • Skilled in presenting to a variety of audiences from entry-level employees to executive staff
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure quality data reporting
  • Ability to communicate data requests as well as findings with an objective, non-judgmental demeanor
  • Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to establish professional relationships with partners including ElevateEdAZ partner schools and districts
  • Must possess analytical ability to solve problems, anticipate challenges, and identify opportunities and solutions
  • Detail oriented with ability to stay organized while handling multiple tasks. Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Highly motivated to learn, grow professionally, and work in a team environment
  • Proficient in all MS Office products
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • Must be able to pass a background check, fingerprint clearance and a drug test
