ARIZONA – Feb. 6, 2023 – The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement today announced its second competitive grant opportunity, awarding up to a total of $1 million to organizations making strides to address mental health in Arizona. Nonprofits, educational institutions, and community organizations are encouraged to apply between Feb. 6 and March 6, 2023.
“Being healthy is not just about having good physical health; mental health is just as important,” said Dr. Christine Wiggs, President and Board Chair for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement. “That is why we are committed to raising awareness, removing stigma, and eliminating barriers to receiving mental healthcare.”
With mental health as its flagship focus, the Foundation is investing in and collaborating with community partners to expand resources and access, reduce stigma, and connect people to care. Areas of focus include but are not limited to: suicide prevention, youth mental health, the intersection of mental health and substance use disorder or health equity, and the COVID-19 effect. The maximum funding per grant award is $125,000.
The Foundation will host a Bidders Conference on Feb. 13, 2023, to share information about the application process, provide tips on standing out in a competitive field, and answer questions. Visit the registration page to sign up.
Since its launch in 2022, The Foundation has awarded 88 grants, totaling nearly $3 million, supporting mental health, substance use disorder, chronic health conditions, and health equity. To learn more about the Foundation and its grant opportunities, visit azbluefoundation.org.
