56th Legislature Second Regular Session Updates

The Greater Phoenix Chamber’s Public Affairs team has been hard at work, starting January with the Legislative Kick-Off Reception as the 56th Legislature- Second Regular Session began. Governor Hobbs gave her State of the State Address, highlighting the hard work Chambers around the state have done to improve jobs, the economy, and education. She also highlighted several proposals the Chamber is watching regarding healthcare and education, specifically renewing Prop. 123. The Public Affairs Issue Committee Meetings convened to discuss specific policies the Chamber will be engaged on out of the 1600 pieces of legislation introduced so far. Several main priorities the team is working on now include:

  • The support campaign for Prop 479
  • Supporting the continuation of the Arizona Commerce Authority
  • Opposing burdensome mandates in proposed healthcare legislation
  • Submitting a court rule petition for Alternative Business Structures
  • Prevailing Wage Ordinance Lawsuit: the Chamber opposed the ordinance passed by the City of Phoenix.
