Overview | 2022 ATHENA Award Recipients
The Greater Phoenix Chamber’s ATHENA Awards program recognizes and celebrates the achievements of businesswomen across the Greater Phoenix region. The ATHENA Award, an internationally prized honor, recognizes women who demonstrate excellence in professional leadership, community service, and mentorship of future leaders. Each year, the Greater Phoenix Chamber’s ATHENA Awards highlight three women at the top of their field, who demonstrate inspiring leadership within their industry, mentor women throughout their career, and act as dedicated community servants. Over the past 31 years, 53 accomplished and compassionate Valley businesswomen have earned the title of ATHENA. Nominations are accepted in June each year, with the recipients announced during the ATHENA Awards Luncheon in the fall.
Overview | 2023 IMPACT Award Recipients
The Chamber hosts the annual IMPACT Awards to highlight the work of outstanding Valley businesses—both small and large. Award categories recognize companies that advocate for Arizona, exhibit a strong commitment to the community, drive the region’s economy, and demonstrate innovation in an industry. Award recipients in each category are celebrated during the IMPACT Awards Luncheon in May, where the Chamber announces the IMPACT Business of the Year recipients. Nominations are accepted November-January each year.
The Annual Luncheon brings together those that are vested in the Chamber’s success and progress. Attendees hear a “State of the Chamber” presentation from the President & CEO, a look back from the outgoing chairman of the board and a vision for the coming year from incoming chairman. An inspiring keynote speaker delivers an address following the presentation of the State of the Chamber.
2023 Forecast & Event Recap
The Valley’s finest economic forecasting event explores local, national, and international economic trends. With timely and interesting economic information, the event provides business professionals, community developers, and political leaders with an idea of the economy’s direction in the upcoming year. Keynote presenters offer a detail-packed session with information that helps companies plan for the year ahead in real estate, finance and other markets. Economic Outlook occurs annually in the fall.
From the development of the Ebola vaccine to the discovery of the former planet Pluto, Arizona is home to many great leaders, thinkers and doers! The Valley Voices event series features local thought leaders discussing important issues impacting the business community. Attendees will hear thought-provoking keynote addresses and calls to action to the business community that will help strengthen our economy. Past speakers include Police Chief Jeri Williams, Arizona State University President Michael Crow, and many more.
Council Connections / Capitol Conversations
Each Fall, attendees have the opportunity to peek behind the scenes at local and state governments. At either our Council Connections or Capitol Conversations events, attendees meet elected officials, learn about critical issues affecting Phoenix and Arizona, and develop skills to work effectively with political leaders and government agencies. Events alternate each year between the city of Phoenix and state Capitol.
Legislative Kick-Off Reception
There’s no better way to celebrate the start of the session than at the Chamber’s annual Legislative Kick-Off Reception. Highly attended by both business leaders and the Capitol community, this event has been awarded for several years as one of the Arizona Capitol Times’ Best of the Capitol and is the best, most prominent opportunity to mingle with Arizona’s elected officials. Occurs the first week of legislative session.
Legislative Wrap-Up Breakfast
After months of dealing with the state’s business, lawmakers pack up and head back to their districts. The Legislative Wrap-Up Breakfast is an opportunity to learn how the business community fared at the state Capitol. Upon the adjournment of the legislative session, several key legislators and policymakers discuss the impact of new policies on business. Occurs annually within one month of Sine Die.
Mayor’s State of the City Address & Luncheon
From transit to green initiatives, the Chamber proudly hosts the Mayor of Phoenix’s annual State of the City Address, an event that brings business leaders and community members together with the city of Phoenix leadership for a conversation about the future of the city. The Mayor’s State of the City Address is a great opportunity for companies of all sizes to meet city leaders, council members and other representatives. Occurs annually in the spring.
Political Insider Series
The Chamber hosts two annual politically focused events that provide our premier-level and Public Affairs members with an inside perspective on political issues impacting our business climate. These events provide an intimate setting, allowing the audience to connect with our federal lawmakers and participate in a discussion about the most impactful political issues.
