Fry’s Food Stores Invested Millions in Arizona’s Communities in 2024 and Vows to Continue Contributions in 2025

Fry’s Food Stores, a division of The Kroger Family of Companies, continues to invest in Arizona and its communities. Since 2019, Fry’s increased its footprint in Arizona by adding 10 new store locations, 13 fuel centers and enhancing the customer experience at 57 stores through extensive remodeling. In total, Fry’s has invested more than $560 million in Arizona’s communities since 2019.

Fry’s Food Stores president, Monica Garnes, says Fry’s is proud to share details of its growth, innovation, and investment in Arizona, including the expansion of Fry’s convenient shopping services including its free Pickup, Delivery, and Boost Membership, which boasts extreme savings such as 2x fuel points, unlimited free Delivery, a free streaming service (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+), and other member-exclusive offers.

Fry’s is committed to investing in people and strives to reflect the communities it serves while fostering a culture that empowers authenticity.  Through diverse and intentional hiring practices, Fry’s has grown to become Arizona’s fourth largest employer, becoming a home for more than 20,000 associates at 130 stores. Through its business practices, Fry’s and its parent company, Kroger, have also earned distinguished accolades such as America’s Greatest Workplaces for People with Disabilities (Newsweek 2024/25), America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity (Newsweek 2024), Arizona’s Most Popular Grocery Store (Nasdaq.com and wisevoter.com 2024), Phoenix’s Favorite Grocery Store (Axios 2023) and many more.

“Our investments in our state’s communities demonstrate Fry’s significant commitment to Arizona. We’re grateful to make a positive impact on the state’s economy and employment numbers,” Garnes said. “We thank our associates and customers for their continued support and assure them we’re striving to exceed their expectations.”

In 2024 alone, Fry’s opened three new Marketplace locations in Queen Creek, Marana, and Peoria, and despite a busy year, Fry’s isn’t slowing down. In late January, Fry’s will open its highly anticipated location in the Morrison Ranch community in Gilbert; and growth plans don’t stop there; Fry’s is continuing investments in 2025 to build new stores and employ more people.

Fry’s also continues to lead the fight to end hunger and eliminate waste in communities through Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact initiative. Since 2019, Fry’s has donated over $16 million to support various local charities, sustainability efforts, and programs aimed at fighting food insecurity, helping to provide more than 85 million meals in Arizona.

Another important part of Fry’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste plan is to partner with like-minded organizations to help provide education on sustainability and food waste. Throughout 2024, Fry’s partnered with many important Arizona nonprofits including St. Mary’s Food Bank, United Food Bank, The Salvation Army (Southwest Division), The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the World Wildlife Fund, and many more.
