Member Spotlight on Aaron Dunn: Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association in Phoenix, Arizona

Aaron Dunn serves as the Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in Arizona, overseeing operations in New Mexico and Nevada. This is known as the Desert Southwest Market.  With a strong focus on the Phoenix community, Aaron leads efforts to support individuals impacted by diabetes and drive meaningful change.

Over the past year, under Aaron’s leadership, the ADA brought Type 2 diabetes education to Title I schools, equipping children with knowledge about prevention and healthier lifestyles. In November, the ADA launched its inaugural State of Diabetes event on World Diabetes Day, featuring a community panel discussion addressing obesity and the diabetes epidemic. This will take place again in Phoenix in the month of November 2025.

Aaron and his dedicated team also manage the Tour de Cure, a cycling event held annually in Goodyear, Arizona. This popular ride attracts cyclists from across the valley, raising crucial funds to support people affected by diabetes. This year’s Tour de Cure is set for February 15 at 9 a.m. at the Goodyear Ballpark, and registration is now open. Additionally, the ADA will host its first Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes on October 11, 2025, at the Arizona Boardwalk in Scottsdale.

With nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit development, Aaron’s connection to the ADA’s mission is deeply personal—he lost his father to diabetes in 2019. This drives his passion for building a strong network of support for those affected by the disease.

For more information or to join the fight against diabetes, Aaron welcomes community members to get involved and make a difference. [email protected]
