Board Member Spotlight – Craig Culy, Executive Director at MIM

Craig Culy joined MIM in December 2009. Over the years, his role has evolved, expanding to add new responsibilities as the museum has advanced. Craig is a strong leader within the organization, exuding a dynamic, effective, and influential leadership style that supports a motivated and successful team.

Currently, as the executive director, he oversees all facets of the organization’s operations. His vision aligns with MIM’s founding principles: delivering a world-class guest experience through exciting programs, exhibits, and performances that delight audiences, foster repeat visitation, and compel people to share their experiences. Under his leadership, MIM has increased earned and contributed revenue by 31% and active memberships by 27%. His focus remains on teamwork and communication, as MIM strives to be the best museum in the world in terms of guest experience.

Previously, as the museum’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer, he presided over the finance department, including budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting. He also oversaw the facilities department, the Guest Service team, and Café Allegro.

Before joining MIM, Craig worked in the accounting and human resources fields at Whole Foods Market, where he developed a passion for organizational development and community engagement.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s in accounting from Florida Atlantic University.

Craig is also on the board for the Greater Phoenix Chamber and serves as MIM’s board treasurer.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, working out, and watching college football. His daughter, 12, is an avid dancer, and the family enjoys weekends attending dance competitions.
