Dear Partners in Justice,
I’m writing to you today to share some important and exciting news with you! Many of you have heard me musing about retirement at some point in the future. After much reflection and soul searching, I’ve determined that the future is near. I have shared with the Board and the YWCA team that I will retire at the end of 2025, and it’s time to share the news with all of you. Reflecting on my journey, these nearly 7 years at YWCA Metro Phoenix have been nothing short of a joyful and heartfelt calling. Despite the challenges of confronting patriarchy, hierarchy, meritocracy, racism, sexism, homophobia, and more, in my previous careers, this role has been incredibly fulfilling. I am grateful to have been in this space with all of you. This role allowed me to bring all of myself and my lived experience into furtherance of our mission. We’ve been working toward Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women and promoting Peace, Justice, Dignity and Freedom for all. Rest assured I will continue my commitment to this work, but in a different way. Over the coming weeks, the Board will establish a committee and open the search. Please look for an email from my Board partners soon. I know time will fly by and there are many things I hope to accomplish before then. I’ll give it my best shot, but there will be plenty for the next CEO and the dedicated, talented Team and Board to embrace to move YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix to the next level. There will be much for YOU to do, too! During and through the transition, I invite you to level up your engagement with YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix.
