Dress for Success â a nonprofit that helps women achieve economic independence through resources such as professional attire, support and development tools â is relocating to the revamped Park Central in midtown Phoenix.
In its new Park Central location at 3110 N Central Ave., the organization is in the Diamond building next to Industrious coworking, situated between Dignity Health and Creighton University’s Health Sciences Campus.
Dress for Success has been in the Valley for 16 years and at its previous location for 12 years. The local affiliate to an international organization that is in 150 states and 25 countries, was previously located in a Chicanos Por La Casa (CPLC) space at 1024 E. Buckeye Rd. in Phoenix.
The move marks a milestone for an organization that has outgrown its old location, said CEOÂ Tamala McBath, a 2023 Outstanding Women in Business honoree. The physical move took place on June 1, with operations anticipated to resume at the new location on June 9. There will be an official launch in the fall.
The relocation will provide the organization with much-needed space for the people it serves.
âWe serve over 3,000 women and teens in a year ⊠we had a space the size of a small office,â McBath told the Business Journal.
The nonprofit was meeting with eight to 10 women in that cramped space per day, she said.
There was also an onsite boutique where clients could access “occupational and interview” clothing as a part of Dress for Successâs career services. The organization also had three warehouses across the city â two in Phoenix and one in Tempe.
Dress for Success: All under one roof
The new space will feature enhanced career workspaces, collaborative areas and expanded capacity to launch future initiatives, according to an announcement.
âThis gave us an opportunity to get everything under one roof,â McBath said.
An additional benefit is easy access to Valley Metro light rail, which runs along Central Avenue, making it a âperfect locationâ for its clientele.
âThey can take the rail all the way from up north here or from south to us. And usually one of the biggest barriers is transportation and getting to us,â she said.
Dress for Success will be located inside the revitalized Park Central mall.
The new location is part of the Park Central mixed-use redevelopment project spearheaded by developers Stan Shafer, COO of Holualoa Cos. and Sharon Harper, chairman and CEO of Plaza Companies.
âTheir work aligns beautifully with the values weâve infused into this campus â workforce development, opportunity and innovation,â said Harper of the Dress for Success mission, in a statement. âThis new location will provide the organization and its clients with increased visibility, accessibility and capacity to grow.â
Although Dress for Success is relinquishing its suites on Buckeye Road back to CPLC, its Tailor Made program for men will still be housed in that complex.
The organization has four other satellite locations throughout the city. The nonprofit is run by 14 staff members and myriad volunteers.
