Vitalant celebrates National Blood Donor Month with new locations, community drives, and life-saving partnerships

January is National Blood Donor Month, and as we begin 2026, the need for blood donations remains vital to keeping Arizona residents healthy. Every day, 700 donors are needed to meet the needs of patients in the 72 hospitals we serve. Vitalant, Arizona’s largest nonprofit community blood provider, has been saving lives for more than 80 years. While we’ve grown into a national organization, Arizona remains our heart and home. We proudly serve 100% of hospitals in Maricopa County and 90% statewide, reinforcing our deep roots and enduring impact across the state.

This year begins with exciting milestones. On January 4, we’ll host the Saving Arizona Blood Drive at Tempe Center for the Arts, followed by a blood drive at the Arizona State Capitol on January 22. Then, on January 27, we’ll celebrate the ribbon cutting of our new Gilbert donation center, our ninth location in the Valley, with plans to open a tenth in Surprise later this year. Why? Convenience matters. Recent research by Agital shows that 43.6% of Arizona donors choose Vitalant because of proximity. By expanding our locations, we make it easier than ever for donors to give and help save lives.

2025 was an incredible year for Vitalant. We gave away a brand-new Volkswagen to one lucky donor and partnered with amazing organizations to offer giveaways, including Culver’s, Phoenix Symphony, Pizza Hut, Streets of New York, WM Phoenix Open, and the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Our Saving Arizona blood drives spotlight how Arizonans come together to help one another. We also work closely with high schools to host blood drives and inspire the next generation of donors. None of this would be possible without our media partners and testimonial speakers who amplify the message of why blood donation matters.
