The Greater Phoenix Chamber is accepting applications for its Valley Young Professionals (VYP) Board of Directors. Applications will be open beginning Monday, March 30th, and are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10th.
The VYP Board consists of young professionals ages 40 and younger who are passionate about community engagement and are actively participating with the Chamber or VYP program.
VYP cultivates the next generation of Phoenix leaders by providing insight into key local issues and creating meaningful opportunities for connection. Through monthly programs and events, VYP brings together entrepreneurs and business professionals to build relationships, expand their networks, and support ongoing professional growth.
The VYP Board is composed of dynamic professionals age 38 and under who are passionate about community engagement and actively involved with the Chamber or the VYP program.
Board members play a vital role in shaping the direction of VYP.
Selected applicants will:
- Represent the Chamber’s mission and values through their leadership and professional presence
- Help guide VYP programming, including identifying relevant topics, timely speakers, and new event venues
- Serve as ambassadors by leveraging their personal and professional networks to promote VYP and the Greater Phoenix Chamber
Board members serve an initial two-year term, with the opportunity to renew for an additional two years.
Applicants must be current Greater Phoenix Chamber or VYP members. Those interested in serving who are not yet members are encouraged to inquire about membership to become eligible.
Young professionals selected to serve on the VYP Board of Directors commit to an initial two-year term, with the opportunity to renew for an additional two years, provided they continue to meet the program’s age requirements.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Term will begin July 1, 2026 and end June 30 2028
- Be 40 years of age or younger as of June 30 of the concluding year of the term for which they are applying
- Have a minimum of two years of professional work experience at the time of application
- Be an active member of the Greater Phoenix Chamber and/or Valley Young Professionals
- Be available for an in-person interview on Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Board Expectations
VYP Board members are expected to:
- Demonstrate a passion for fostering a vibrant community where young professionals can live, work, and play
- Attend at least 5 of 6 bi-monthly board meetings and 8 of 12 monthly VYP events
- Actively advocate for the GPC’s and VYP’s mission and initiatives within their personal and professional networks
- Contribute to the development of programming that aligns with GPC and VYP goals and mission
- Invite a minimum of one guest to each VYP event
- Assume an elected leadership role (after one year of board service) or participate on a committee annually
