New Song Center for Grieving Children offers grief support groups for children and their families following a significant death in a child’s life. The not-for-profit center, a Hospice of the Valley program, works closely with a team of volunteers devoted to helping grieving kids and caregivers live in an emotionally healthy way.
New volunteers are greatly needed. The next training class will meet on four days in June: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 8, and Saturday, June 15; and 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 13. Classes will be held at Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix.
Volunteers bring their caring heart, open ears and playful spirit to support groups and help families as they figure out how to navigate their new world. There is no cost to attend New Song support groups, which meet at six locations Valley-wide, or to attend training. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially needed for the Luz del Corazón support group.
