In August 2016, Carlisle Companies Incorporated, a Fortune 1000 company, moved its global corporate headquarters from Charlotte, North Carolina to Scottsdale. Carlisle is a diversified, global portfolio of niche brands and businesses that manufactures highly engineered products and solutions for customers in markets as diverse as commercial roofing, aerospace, medical, industrial, agriculture, and construction.
At the same time, one of Carlisle’s four divisions, Carlisle Fluid Technologies (CFT), also moved its headquarters to Arizona. CFT combines innovative spray finishing, powder coating, fluid handling, curing, and integrated control packages with decades of technical expertise to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions across numerous end markets.
These relocations brought significant capital investment and new employees to the region. The move to the Greater Phoenix area also positioned Carlisle to be closer to many major customers, employees on the West Coast and in Mexico, and provided better access to Asia Pacific markets. The Greater Phoenix Chamberwas supportive in Carlisle’s move to Arizona by helping to ensure a smooth and quick transition.
In the three years since moving to the Greater Phoenix area, Carlisle has experienced meaningful growth, with global sales expanding from $3.3 billion for full-year 2015 to $4.5 billion for the full year 2018, guided by Vision 2025, a strategic plan under which Carlisle will drive to deliver $8 billion of sales and 20 percent operating income. In support of this strategic plan, Carlisle has actively hired locally, resulting in approximately 160 new jobs to Arizona.
Since moving to Arizona, Carlisle has made strides towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace by joining the CEO Action for Diversity & InclusionTM pledge, a growing coalition of more than 750 CEOs of major corporations pledging to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. As part of this pledge, Carlisle has focused on delivering unconscious bias training for its management teams, ensuring equal pay between genders, and closing the gender gap in its senior management ranks.
Operating for more than 100 years, Carlisle has always been a responsible corporate steward in the communities in which it operates. Continuing that culture, Carlisle has quickly developed roots in the Phoenix community. For example, in 2018, Carlisle partnered with Elevate Phoenix, an organization that delivers long-term, life-changing relationships and mentoring to urban youth in Phoenix. The Elevate Phoenix model has proven effective in transforming lives of Phoenix’s youth.
Carlisle also supports the Autism Academy of Arizona, whose students have provided artwork for Carlisle’s offices. Finally, through a partnership with the Arizona Cardinals, Carlisle proudly supports Headstrong, an organization dedicated to helping military veterans dealing with PTSD, addiction, anxiety and depression, trauma, grief and loss, and anger management.
