Topics include: dispelling myths about hospice and palliative care; living with chronic disease; dementia care; healthcare decisions (living wills); understanding grief and mourning; how to talk to your doctor; caring for the caregiver; and a special program on Saluting our Veterans and Honoring First Responders. Speakers also give talks on Ryan House, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions; and New Song Center for Grieving Children, which offers grief support for kids and families.

Not-for-profit Hospice of the Valley serves patients in their homes — or wherever they live — and the agency’s nine inpatient care homes. Services are provided by a core team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains (if requested) and bereavement counselors. Spanish-speaking patients are served through the agency’s Hispanic outreach program. Volunteers support patients and their families.
