Each year, the VYP Board decides on goals and themes for the program that help identify the focus for content, speakers, and community partners. This year, the Valley Young Professionals program will be focusing on engagement and visibility, relevance, and social responsibility and citizenship. Hear from Salvador Bretts, Chad Guzman, and Nicole Matt as they share their thoughts on the goals of the program and what’s ahead for VYP in FY21.

Question: Why is it important for VYP members to engage in the issues of diversity, social responsibility, and community involvement?
Answer: Young professionals will inherently play a major role in reshaping the Valley’s efforts around diversity, social responsibility, and community involvement due to the monumental generational shift. The values of today’s millennials and Gen-Z are invaluable focused on these pillars to bring about necessary changes in business, government, and all of aspects of our growing communities.
Question: What’s the most important step a young professional can take to be involved in their community?
Answer: Representation matters. It is important for young professionals to see themselves reflected in all levels of leadership in the Valley. Furthermore, it is our generation’s task to be the most inclusive yet to people from all walks of life and foment their professional goals.

Question: Why is it important for VYP members to engage in the issues of diversity, social responsibility, and community involvement?
Answer: Engaging in each of these issues is vital to establishing the bonds of community that create a sense of shared purpose and enhance the quality of life for all. It is especially urgent for our community’s young professionals to pursue these goals in order for their value to remain sustainable for the long term in our society.
Question: What’s the most important step a young professional can take to be involved in their community?
Answer: Simultaneously maintaining and expanding your personal network is not only how you become meaningfully involved in your community, it is the only way to influence the direction your community will take on issues that are important to you.

Question: Why is it important for VYP members to engage in the issues of diversity, social responsibility, and community involvement?
Answer: There are cultural shifts happening across all industries and new challenges arising. It’s important for VYP members to help navigate these tricky times and to pave the way for those just starting out in the workforce and for all generations to work together to make change for the better. #changemaker
Question: What’s the most important step a young professional can take to be involved in their community?
Answer: One of the key steps a young professional can take is to lend their talent and their voice by getting involved, put aside any fears of inexperience and start getting connected. Join a business leaders’ group, networking group, or volunteer your skills to a nonprofit organization. Their perspective, their experience is needed and can be intertwined with the work being done that will have a major impact on the future.
