Shortly before the holidays, Senator Joe Manchin threw what many believe to be the final blow to the ambitious Build Back Better spending plan being pushed by the Biden Administration and many congressional democrats. The business community has vocalized its concerns with the bill, especially as it relates to taxation, inflation, and unfair regulatory provisions. While it’s still possible a more narrowed down comprehensive version may be brought back, many democrats are now asking that the elements of the bill be broken up for individual votes. This further complicates the issue both politically and procedurally. Stay tuned—the Chamber will provide updates as the legislation progresses (or doesn’t).
