Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement

There is no better investment to make than in the health of our state. The Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement is here to do just that. Separate from Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona (BCBSAZ), the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private, non-operating foundation and launched operations in January 2022.

The Foundation partners with organizations that are transforming health in Arizona to amplify their impact. Through grants that support programmatic impact and applied research, we will take on Arizona’s toughest health challenges including mental health, substance use disorder, chronic health conditions, and health equity.

Mental health is the Foundation’s flagship focus for 2022, and we are committing $5 million over three years – including up to $2 million in 2022 alone – to address issues such as access to care, suicide prevention, youth mental health, the intersection of mental health and substance use disorder, and COVID-19. To learn more about grant opportunities, visit the Foundation’s website.

BCBSAZ has always had a strong commitment to improving the health of Arizonans. For instance, the Mobilize AZ public health initiative (2018-2021) funded millions of dollars in grants that supported prevention, treatment, and resiliency services to address substance use, diabetes, and mental health. The Foundation for Community & Health Advancement provides the framework to build upon that commitment. We will join forces with changemakers, innovators, and problem solvers who are making communities healthier across Arizona.
