Longtime Greater Phoenix Chamber Member Fairytale Brownies is celebrating 30 magical years in business! Co-founders Eileen Spitalny and David Kravetz started their brownie business in a friend’s catering kitchen in 1992 with a secret family recipe and a dream. Thirty years later, that dream is alive and beyond expectations.
In 1992, Eileen and David sold brownies at street fairs and farmer’s markets. Today, the duo oversees their e-commerce business in a 37,000-square-foot facility in Phoenix where they bake, package, and ship worldwide more than 7 million brownies, blondies, and cookies each year.
Each treat is baked with premium ingredients and no preservatives and is certified kosher for dairy. All brownies, blondies and cookies are individually wrapped for freshness, hand packed in signature packaging and personalized with gift messages.
Giving back to the community is important to Eileen and David. Because they met on the kindergarten playground, they chose the national nonprofit KABOOM! as their partner. Fairytale ships and spreads brownie joy worldwide, KABOOM! builds play spaces and spreads smiles nationwide. It makes sense to combine the two. Since the partnership began in 2001, Fairytale Brownies has donated more than $500,00, thousands of pounds of brownies, volunteers many hours, and built several play spaces. Fairytale plans to build another play space with KABOOM! in Phoenix in spring 2023.
Fairytale Brownies has received rave reviews in publications such as The New York Times and USA Today and has been featured on segments of “Food Finds” and “Unwrapped” on The Food Network.
Eileen and David also have received many awards along the way including the Greater Chamber of Commerce Impact Award, the BBB Business Ethics Award, the BBB International Torch Award for Marketplace Excellence, and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Come celebrate 30 years of baking with Fairytale Brownies from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Fairytale Brownies Bakery, 4610 E. Cotton Center Blvd, Phoenix. Sample all of Fairytale treats, raffle prizes and silent auction, $1 imperfect treats and bags of brownie edges, $1 special Sweet Republic/Fairytale ice cream flavor, outdoor games, music, gift to the first 100 guests. Event is a fundraiser to benefit KABOOM!
