As we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on March 8th, let us showcase ways we can praise and support women-owned organizations, businesses, and individuals who positively impact our community. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity, with a goal of challenging gender stereotypes, calling out discrimination, and seeking out inclusion. Each of us can actively support and #EmbraceEquity within our own networks and sphere of influence.
As founder and board chair of my nonprofit, Young & Empowered Women (Y&E) I choose to #EmbraceEquity by empowering our members to advocate for equity in their workplace and communities. At Y&E, we support and provide professional development, networking opportunities and educational awareness of a diverse group of over 120 rising female leaders (60% first generation and 67% women of color) that are passionate about service, career advancement and empowering others. Launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and She-Cession, Y&E has built a network of women leaders who support each other on negotiating salaries, conflict management, career transitions, mental wellness and more.
How will you choose to #EmbraceEquity and celebrate Women’s History Month?
