FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

All contributions from the concert will directly support the nonprofit’s mission to empower individuals through employment

Phoenix, Ariz. (Jan. 17, 2024) — Phoenix nonprofit St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 16th Annual feeney/winthrop Benefit Concert in support of its mission to assist unhoused, low-income and other disadvantaged individuals in securing sustainable, quality employment. This extraordinary musical evening will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tempe Center for the Arts.

In the 2022 fiscal year, SJW reached a pivotal milestone by providing its services to more than 10,000 individuals, a 37% increase over the previous year, and aiding 6,213 individuals in obtaining full-time employment. The average hourly wage for those newly employed is $17.02, with an impressive 81% receiving associated benefits.

Since its establishment in 1988, SJW has helped over 35,000 individuals, in more than 50 ZIP codes across the Valley. Centered on its commitment to work, SJW continues to dispense the resources needed to remove employment barriers and guide clients toward financial success and self-sufficiency.

“As a founding member of local nonprofit St. Joseph the Worker and a member of feeney/winthrop, I am honored to be hosting our 16th Annual Benefit Concert,” says Matt Feeney, partner at Snell & Willmer. “By joining us for this magical evening of acoustic music, your support is more than a contribution; it’s a catalyst for empowerment, guiding individuals toward meaningful employment and paving their paths to success.”

“For the past fifteen years, this event has been an instrumental force in raising over $615,000 to further our work at SJW, and we are eager to welcome our community for the 16th Annual feeney/winthrop Benefit Concert,” expressed SJW CEO Carrie Masters. “Every dollar raised from the concert will go to directly serve our clients on their journey towards self-sufficiency.”

Admission is $20 per ticket and can be purchased on Eventbrite here. For those wishing to contribute to SJW, SJW is a Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. Arizona residents can use QCO code: 20248 to receive a dollar-for-dollar Arizona state tax credit of up to $421 for individuals and $841 for couples filing jointly. About St. Joseph the Worker

St. Joseph The Worker (SJW) was formed in 1988 in response to the unhoused community saying, “we want to work, but don’t have the tools”. Since then, SJW has been forging pathways to self-sufficiency with employment at the core, believing the only way out of poverty is a paycheck. Common barriers clients face when looking for and upon finding stable employment include access to transportation, money for interview and uniform attire, lack of certifications for the role, and housing. By breaking down barriers clients often face when job searching, SJW is providing an opportunity for clients to build a sustainable life free of government assistance.
