As I step into the role of Board Chair for Phoenix Valley Young Professionals (VYP), I am incredibly honored to serve this community! VYP has always been more than a professional network. It’s a community that empowers emerging leaders to build lasting relationships, engage in meaningful professional development, become changemakers in the community, and grow as the next generation of leaders for Greater Phoenix.
This year, our focus is simple: Community and Elevate.
Community means creating a stronger sense of connection among our members. We want every event to feel welcoming, intentional, and valuable, whether you’re attending for the first time or have been involved for years. We’ll continue expanding opportunities for members to engage with one another through purposeful networking while providing more opportunities for both VYP members and our Board to give back through volunteer experiences across the Valley. We will also regularly share volunteer opportunities from nonprofits across the Valley, making it easier for members to get involved in causes they care about. We also want to expand our membership by increasing awareness of VYP throughout the Greater Phoenix business community and inviting more young professionals from Greater Phoenix Chamber member organizations to get involved. By creating more opportunities for their employees to connect, engage, and grow through VYP, we can strengthen our community, broaden our reach, and expand our collective impact across the Valley.
Elevate is about ensuring every interaction with VYP helps our members grow personally and professionally. This year, we’ll elevate the member experience by delivering meaningful professional development, fostering mentorship through both intentional and natural connections, and ensuring every event equips members with practical insights they can apply beyond the event. We’ll also help members better understand the important work of the Greater Phoenix Chamber and discover meaningful ways to engage with its programs, advocacy efforts, and initiatives. For our Board members, we’ll continue creating meaningful leadership experiences through our committee structure, empowering committee chairs and board members to lead initiatives, collaborate across teams, and build leadership skills that extend beyond board service. Finally, we’ll place greater emphasis on measuring our impact, tracking member engagement, volunteer participation, professional development outcomes, community involvement, and organizational growth, and regularly sharing those results so our members can see the difference we’re making together.
None of this happens without you! Your ideas, perspectives, and involvement are what make VYP such a special community. We want to hear your feedback, create opportunities that reflect your interests, and continue building a place where professionals can connect, learn, serve, and lead.
