PHOENIX — BOK Financial employees in Arizona directed a $10,000 donation to Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that works with volunteers to pack meals distributed through food partners around the world.
Through Guide the Giving, an annual program that allows employees to nominate nonprofits and vote for a recipient in their market, Arizona-based employees selected Feed My Starving Children to receive the donation. The $10,000 donation will help provide approximately 34,482 meals to children experiencing hunger. BOK Financial employees presented the donation and volunteered at the organization’s Tempe packing site July 22.
Dewing Idemudia, a corporate banking relationship manager at BOK Financial and member of Feed My Starving Children’s board of directors, nominated the organization. Born and raised in Nigeria, Idemudia saw firsthand the challenges many children faced because of poverty.
“I know the power of feeding a child because I’ve seen what happens when children don’t have enough to eat,” Idemudia said. “The reality is that some children may only get one meal a day. That one meal helps settle their minds, helps them focus and gives them hope.”
