As the months of distance learning and remote working wear on during COVID-19, residents are understandably concerned about how they will remain connected now and in the future. One of life’s most important connections right now is the internet, and Cox Communications has taken swift action to ensure you remain connected throughout this crisis and help our community recover and grow.
We’re working to connect everyone
Our infrastructure reaches over 1 million households in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Yet, we know there are some families who are not currently connected to high speed internet, and their children are at risk of falling behind in school. So, our Connect2Compete program, which offers low-cost internet to families on government assistance with K-12 children, is free for two months for qualified first-time internet customers who sign up by September 30th. The equipment is free, and there are no installation fees or contracts. When the free offer ends, the rate will l be just $9.95/month for customers who choose to remain connected.
Additionally, Cox is partnering with area schools to connect families and teachers who need connectivity during the school year. Families with children in the K-12 system can visit www.cox.com/C2C from a mobile phone to sign up We are also offering the Cox Digital Academy to help all families learn safely online and find great resources.
We have plenty of capacity for all
Our response to increased demand began years ago, when we started planning and building for the network of the future. We always have managed our network to make sure it is prepared for the increased customer demand and new technology innovations of the future. Just five years ago, through our partnership with the region, US Ignite named the Phoenix metropolitan area as a gigabit-enabled region for residential services. And, businesses in the area can enjoy up to 100 Gig speeds to support their needs as well. Now, Cox is working to enable 10 Gig residential service in the near future, far ahead of demand.
We’re remain committed to the community during these uncertain times
Ensuring our communities remain strong is one of our core beliefs. When we come together, we rise together. In Arizona, serving not only the Phoenix metro area but also southern Arizona, Cox has contributed nearly $5 million in cash and in-kind support to support our local non-profits and businesses through direct donations of cash and PPE, as well as free advertising to support local restaurants. We also assisted the state in the early months of the pandemic with educational information about COVID-19 hygiene and workforce development through public service announcements. And, nationally, the James M. Cox Foundation committed $5 million to support COVID-19 research and testing.
