A cadre of bills have been introduced this session that insert the heavy hand of government into private business operations. These bills open the business community up to increased liability and heavy fines should they adhere to the idea that businesses have the right to manage their own workplaces and more specifically, if employees should receive a COVID-19 vaccination and/or be tested regularly.
While the Chamber agrees in principal that employers should follow current state and federal rules on vaccine exemptions, the bills go so far in penalizing businesses that it would make someone think twice about even opening a business in Arizona. This is clearly not the message we want to send. The Greater Phoenix Chamber is working hard with our colleagues at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other local chambers and organizations throughout Arizona to educate lawmakers on why these bills are simply bad for business.
