This July, the Greater Phoenix Chamber is celebrating the start of a new fiscal year! Almost two months ago, the organization’s new name was debuted. Since then, you’ve probably noticed the Chamber’s new brand identity. The new, more modern name and the refreshed image are courtesy of long-time Chamber member, Ideas Collide.
These changes reflect the growing scope of work done by the Chamber and the Chamber’s more broad and diverse focus that includes public policy, economic development, workforce development, and a connector for businesses.
As the staff prepares for FY 19, Chamber members will see some new and exciting projects and opportunities from the Chamber.
The Greater Phoenix Chamber Public Affairs team represents the voice of business at the Capitol and at City Hall. From supporting pro-growth legislation to opposing measures that unduly burden business, the Chamber is YOUR voice in politics. In FY 18, the Public Affairs team represented the Chamber and saw the passing of 31 Chamber-supported bills and the successful defeat of 18 Chamber-opposed bills.
In FY 19, the Public Affairs team is proudly standing as the leading voice of business during the 2018 elections. The Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC) has endorsed 58 legislative candidates and four statewide candidates, including Governor Doug Ducey. In the coming months, the team will be advocating for these pro-business candidates.
Through collaborative partnerships and a Business, Retention, and Expansion (BRE) program, the Chamber is growing our economy from within. In FY 18, the BRE team conducted more than 240 personalized business outreach visits and connected companies with the resources needed to overcome challenges.
the Chamber’s Economic Development program will continue to conduct visits with businesses. This service provides great insights into Phoenix’s local economy and helps the Chamber to understand any pain points influencing business growth.
The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation
The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation leads the charitable and educational objectives of the Chamber by promoting economic prosperity and quality of life for the Greater Phoenix region. The Foundation furthers the Chamber’s mission by conducting research, forming partnerships, and hosting events focused on education, workforce development, wellness, and community development.
In FY 19, the Foundation will expand on the ground-breaking, employer-led workforce collaboratives that are helping to identify and develop job-ready talent. Last year, this collaborative convened more than 200 employers, and the Foundation looks forward to another successful year.
In the upcoming months, the Foundation will also continue to grow the number of Wellness AtoZ Employers. Wellness AtoZ provides turnkey wellness programs to all employers. Overall, the initiative aims at making Arizona and the Greater Phoenix region known as a destination for healthy talent and healthy living.
